W8OW is given an input which he uses to learn about his surroundings and works with what he has just learned to understand where different objects are such as the Wumpus or the gold. He also is able to evaluate whether or not it is safe to continue in a given direction. W8OW is able to decipher whether or not the space contains a hole or not. For example, he would know if there is a hole to his left because he has already learned about the are and knows that space does not contain a hole. He is able to use what he has learned from the inputs to determine if he can pinpoint the location of the Wumpus and therefore clear that space by killing the Wumpus. He follows standard procedure of steps to choose which way he will walk if it is safe to walk that way. W8OW changes how he maneuvers the board based on what he is trying to do. For example, if he wants to get to the gold, he will work to do that as efficiently as possible and likewise for trying to get back to the starting square.
